The Israel-Palestine Conflict sparks boycotts and protests across the nation
On Oct. 7 the Palestinian militant group, Hamas, attacked Israel, killing about 1,200 and taking hostages.
The Israeli military retaliated and promised to eliminate Hamas. More than 11,100 Palestinians have been killed since.
The Palestinian BDS National Committee is urging people to boycott companies like Disney and McDonald's that are "profiting from the genocide of Palestinian people" as citizens across the globe have also asserted that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians.

Reda Rafei, assistant professor of practice at Texas Tech University who specializes in the history of the Middle East, said the conflict between Israel and Hamas did not start on Oct. 7; it is a conflict of the 20th century.
Until May of 1948, Jews, Arabs, Muslims and Christians were all living in peace in Palestine before Western influence entered the picture. The United Nations tried to partition the land of Palestine into territory for both Israel and Palestine, but only Israel accepted the offer, making them an official nation.
From there, tensions grew.
"This is why they (Hamas) turn to violence because you don't have anybody who's defending your rights or speaking on your behalf or saying 'we exist, we're here, we're in the millions and we've been here for hundreds of years and our ancestors lived in this part of the world for hundreds of years,'" Rafei said.
The horrific pictures and videos of Palestinian children stuck under rubble, doctors performing surgery with phone flashlights and dead bodies scattered across the Gaza Strip have encouraged pro-Palestine protests across the world.
With Palestinians unable to access funds donated to them, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction movement lead by the BNC might be the most efficient way to make an effort toward a ceasefire.
On social media the Israel-Palestine Conflict has been compared to historic events like the Holocaust and the bombing of Hiroshima.
With so many individuals speaking out in support of Palestine on social media, boycotting and protesting; the ongoing conflict and loss of lives serves as a reminder of who is truly in power.
